When the light is on
Last week I didn’t have a Wednesday ONE for you. If you are a regular reader and were missing it, I’m sorry.
Maybe it felt a bit like being in the dark? This question of, “did I miss it?”
You didn’t miss it. I just didn’t have one ready and didn’t want to just throw something together. But it did get me thinking a lot over the past week. I wonder how many people felt like they were in the dark. I certainly felt a darkness. Like a darkness that carried a bit of a disappointing feeling. Bummed that I didn’t have one prepared and wondering how the reaction would be.
Then there was this thought. I know, I know. I am always having a thought. But I think it’s what makes me, well, me.
I walked into my office the other morning and noticed that the light had been left on. And then the thought
When the light is on, you know that he is with you.
He – Jesus. The Human One.
“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:4-5 NIV
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””
John 8:12 NIV
“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.”
John 12:46 NIV
Being in the dark in our world is inevitable. But when you have a friend in The Human One, you never walk in darkness. He is with you.
A lamp, a ceiling light, a blinking light on a plane in the sky, the sun, or even the moon (like we talked about a few weeks back) are all reminders that we are never in darkness when we follow Jesus.
And best yet, we get to be a light to others in their darkness. This week as you turn on lights, remember that The Human One is with you.
